The task for this project was to make two necklaces and two sets of earrings out of clay, one pair of earrings and a necklace had to be painted in acrylic paints, and the other pair had to be painted with glaze. I had lost the earring for the photo on the left but they were yellow stars that I had painted with acrylic paints, the circle bead in the middle was meant to be a star surrounded by the galaxy. I didn't realize with acrylic paints that the paint would dry mat, I was really hoping for a glossy finish to really demonstrate being in space. Two beads surround the circle and are painted yellow to match the earrings, on either side of those their are light pink beads and the on the outside of those are small red beads. I had used color to demonstrate balance on either side of the of the main circle. This is important because it provides a unity in the piece having something abnormal that draws the viewer in, in the middle and having something simple on either side. The tone I get from this piece is far away, because of the wool string I had used to tie up the piece and because of all the different colors I had used on the center piece gives you the concept that the piece represents space and all the other galaxies in it. I think this piece is a success because of all the different colors I had applied to the center piece, I also liked the method that I had used to do so, where I had put paint on my finger tip and placed it all along the piece. I think this piece needs improvement because if I had added a layer of glaze to the outside I think it really would've added the glimmery shiny look I was going for. The picture on the left is a photo of my glaze piece, I had decided to go with basic designs for this piece. Creating a square and triangle to go with the piece. I used the same colors on both pieces to create a balance, I painted the square red and then used a tooth pick to draw yellow lines down the piece. Then for the earrings I made triangles and used the red paint to add drops so they used the same colors. I had used color to match both the earrings and the pendant with each other, this shows balance because of how the colors go together and represent a present of belong. This is important because otherwise it would just be a pair of earrings and a necklace instead of belonging together. This piece has the tone of purpose because of each circle and the way their placed, and how the colors match together. It also gives me this tone because of the pendent of the necklace and how it has the lines drawing the viewers eye down the piece. Overall I think this piece is a success because of how well the colors go together and how the colors codependent on each other. I think this piece could use improvement with redefying the edges and making them all around smoother.
