For this project it has three other sections, fire, water, and earth, this sections is fire. So what I did was take colors of things that remind me of fire, like the color red or the sun.
My Photos
I had decided to take photos of my friend Bailey because her bright red hair reminds me of the colors of fire, I also decided to take some pictures of the sun because I had liked the way the shine looked in the camera. Also because the sun is a giant ball of fire, which I thought would be good for the fire portion of this project. My main focus for this project was getting light in the photo, or the color red which is why I had edited everything to have a light red tint.
My edits
For this project I really wanted to extend the red, for the first photo I changed the color balance to apprehend the red in the photo. I did this because the sun in the photo was really bright so I thought I could give it a mystery vibe, having the red light but still very visible. For the photo in the top middle I had reached up toward the sun and took a photo with my hand showing part of the suns shine.I edited the photo to make it darker so it looks like the sun is shinning more than it actually was, then I changed the levels of color balance to create a deep red glow like a post apocalyptic feeling. For the photo on the right I tried to enhance my friends bailey hair to the color red, while making everything black and white around it. The photo on the bottom left I had changed Baileys hair to a brighter red while her lips I tried to make a dark red but it had been brighter than I expected.
My Final Project
The photo shown is a picture of my hand reaching up towards the sun I opened my hand so that pieces of the sun could be seen. then I created the entire picture darker to give it the effect that the only light is coming from that one area. Then my theme was red so I changed the atmosphere red so it made it look like the sky was bleeding, or the only light is coming out of a long tunnel. I had used color to make it appear that the only light was from that one area buy making edges black and then as you ye moved closer to the middle it became lighter which is why it is such a crucial part in the piece. I had also used shape on the edges and for the hand making them both black, which is important because without it it would just be a red screen. The story that I get from this piece is post-apocalyptic because of how dark the color red is and how white the sun looks. It makes it look like it takes place far ahead in the future when there is barely anything left. I also get the mood that it's very glum because of how dark the red is and how dark the surrounding area. Overall I believe this piece is successful in the aspect of the mood because I think the black in the photo really apprehends the red and makes it pop out even more. What I think needs improvement is how there is a straight cut between the top and the red and if I had more time I would make that line more ombre into the red.
